A licensed therapist and owner of a private practice, Jorge Galindo works alongside his wife Miriam, offering clinical therapy services to families, individuals, and children. Jorge Galindo has experience and training in the treatment of domestic violence, sexual offense, and child custody cases. The diversion treatment Mr. Galindo undertakes with court-appointed patients is an alternative to criminal trial proceedings, generally offered to low-risk and first-time offenders. Supplying defendants with counseling can be less costly, and potentially more beneficial, than court and conviction alternatives. Depending on the legal policies in place in the region, the defendant may or may not be required to plead guilty to charges in order to enter the diversion program. Generally, the defendant and their crime must fit a number of characteristics predetermined by the system. Often, diversion treatment is available only to defendants who have committed minor, non-violent crimes. Some systems, however, allow those convicted of child abuse and domestic violence to be considered for the program as well.
